What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
As current, the "Go to old version edit" button in the quick article creation screen lacks any way to open the created article into a new tab rather than replacing the current one. As someone who's preferred workflow is to work on several articles at once in different tabs, the current functionality slows me down.
My proposal would be to either allow for the standard new tab opening methods (Ctrl+LMB, MMB, RMB>Open in new tab), consistent with the rest of the site and most other websites, or adding an alternative method to do so, such as a 2nd button or swapping the button's functionality when holding ctrl/shift.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
At present, it is inconsistent with the rest of the site's UI and adds resistance to the quick creation of articles, and is a small but inconvenient regression from the previous system, where you could create an article as needed as you worked on another then quickly open it into a new tab ready to edit while continuing with your current article uninterrupted.
It's certainly not a major issue, but it does break my personal flow and I'd imagine at least a few people have a similar issue, and others would probably appreciate the convenience of this.
Follow up
Since posting this, several other areas of the site have lost the ability to open new tabs, including the entire sidebar, i'd therefore extend this request to those as well.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! Lately we've been reviewing the UI to keep "open in new tab" as an option consistently. We'll double-check that the options you mention also keep this functionality everywhere.
