What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The new editor has it's advantages, but also comes with a lot of changes that make switching to it difficult and off-putting.
My proposal would be to provide an option to use a tab-based layout that recreates the workflow of the previous editor, rather than everything being in a single column.
This would also pair well with a restoration of the "Terror from the deep (dark blue)" interface theme that differentiates the textboxes and backdrop with different colours.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
With the planned end of life for the old editor, an option for a more familiar workflow within the new workspace would likely make the change over smoother for many.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Just as a personal example, the new "everything on one page" layout is a bit overwhelming and results in a lot of scrolling back and forth, trying to find the relevant section (made harder by textboxes and the page backdrop being the same colour). The tabbed layout in the old editor allows for a more focused workspace that is much quicker to navigate.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! This is accepted for investigation. In the meantime, you can disable article expanded prompts to from your account feature settings: this will make it so new articles don't have all prompts visible by default.
