Previously when you would bring up your list of articles you could click on one without opening it. When you did it would just show you a summary field on the side where you could add subscriber access, add tags, change Draft status, add previous and next article links, etc.
Now when you click on an article it auto opens an edit screen where you can do some but not all of these (No previous/next article) and you have to jump around to fill them in. So each time I want to update things, I have to click on the article, then click to close the edit screen, then get to the nice section on the side where you can easily make some fast changes.
Obviously someone thought aut opening the edit would help save some steps for users, but for certain things it creates more steps to get what you want. So let's just have the ability to turn the auto edit open on or off in a setting.
It would allow users to choose to turn auto open on or off, allowing for a tailored experience without affecting the experience of other users who may want this feature on.
None.
I don't like how it does this, I liked the old option. Maybe a toggle.
Clicking on the article title is what opens the edit modal, clicking anywhere else in the 'box' opens only the sidebar and not the modal. It would be nice if that was clearer, however, such as by having a dedicated 'modal edit' button instead.
