What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, no matter what one does, creating an article from a custom template using the quick content creation (QCC) button clears the article template's vignette.
For example, one might have created a certain structure in the custom article template using headers, but upon creating the article using QCC these headers, along with anything else in the custom article template's vignette, are removed
This makes using QCC tedious in this case, which is a shame.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
This feature request suggests that when choosing a custom article template from the QCC menu, one of the following should occur:
- The vignette field becomes uneditable and is ignored upon article creation (keeping the vignette from the template)
- The vignette field from the custom article is loaded into the vignette field
- Instead of the vignette being shown in the QCC menu the article excerpt should be displayed (since that is what is immediately displayed on the Articles & Categories page and is suitable for the quick notes one writes in these fields)
I would like to encourage readers to share further ideas and opinions in voting.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Should suggestion No. 3 be chosen, this would incentivise the usage of article excerpts and potentially improve world navigability since article excerpts are, in my experience, often overlooked as a tool for world documentation.
