articles update reference

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, when I update the name of an article, and then navigate to another article to update the reference to that article; when I use the "@" symbol to locate the article, the new article title cannot be found; only the old title.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

As it is now, I have to refresh the page every time I change an article title. Making this change would allow me to change article titles and update references more quickly.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Another feature that could be built-in to this feature is to update the displayed text of article references when you change the article title so they don't need to be manually changed. Maybe even a feature similar to "autolink", where you can review each article reference and choose whether to keep or update them.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! Refreshing the page should not be necessary after changing an article name; what you describe sounds like a bug. We'll investigate! In the meantime try refreshing the world index:
  1. On the left sidebar, click the gear icon, then the double gears to access advanced settings.
  2. On the right, click on the "refresh world index" panel.
  3. Click the "Refresh world index" panel.
When you perform an article search in your world (either with Search, with linking, or anything else), the system looks at this index rather than the world as a whole for performance reasons. An article not appearing might indicate that the world index is outdated for some unintended reason.

This would be helpful, and I'm honestly confused why it doesn't work like that already, given the article link references article ID number, not name. Is a new ID number assigned every time we edit the title of an article?
