What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, image tags are added as CSS classes to <img> HTML elements when images are embedded via [img] BBCode. This allows users to target images with CSS for enhanced styling flexibility. However, image tags are not applied as CSS classes to images in specific fields, such as character portraits or organization flags. This inconsistency limits the ability to style these images dynamically or uniformly based on tags.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Adding image tags as CSS classes to all <img> elements, including those in special fields like character portraits and organization flags, would provide consistent functionality across all image placements. This enhancement would make it possible to:
  • Apply CSS styling dynamically based on tags (e.g., borders, aspect ratios, opacity, or other visual effects).
  • Ensure uniformity between manually embedded images and those displayed in predefined fields.
  • Enhance user control over the visual design of their worldbuilding content.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Enhanced Styling: Users can create unique designs for specific images or groups of images based on their tags, such as dynamically styling character portraits or organizational banners for visual distinction.   Streamlined Image Management: While search functionality exists for tags, this enhancement indirectly aids in managing assets by enabling visual cues and organization through CSS without manual intervention.   Future-Proofing: As World Anvil evolves, this functionality can open up further creative and organizational possibilities for tags in both articles and asset management.
