USE DIPLOMACY WEBS FOR RELATIONSHIPS

relationships

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The relationship system is not practical enough, it takes up a lot of space, as you can see below, 2 relationships take up almost the whole page.   So in a universe with more than a hundred characters and therefore more affinities, it's not practical at all.   Visually, you're going to have to scroll to see all the affinities, and that's going to flood the character's page, and overall not give you a good way to visualise informations.   By using the existing Diplomacy webs system, it would be visually easier to see affinities (good or bad), and thanks to the tagging system, you could also create affinities by guild, players and so on!   My proposal is based on a tool that's already in place, but I think the difficulty of making suggestions is rather lessened."

How does this feature request address the current situation?

What are other uses for this feature request?

Like I've said this feature combine with TAG can create so many ways to be imaginative with in order to get intersting graphic, It could be affinities between demons, guild members, townspeople or players.

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! We have planned a relationships update that, among other things, will let you do this. Don't expect it soon, but it is planned.   In the meantime, we'll also look into updating the relationship panel on presentation mode to make it more optimized and readable.

Sounds reasonable, I do find the diagramming functions in general assume lower information density than I want to display.

The way relationships are visually presented is really intrusive. This seems much better.

I hate how much space relationships take up on the page display, especially in larger universes. This seems like an excellent solution.

I like this idea. I'm not a fan of the way character relationships are presented now. They take too much room on the page, and are just kind of clunky, in my opinion. A more compact presentation (maybe even a presentation that can be shown/hidden by people viewing a character article) would be a big help. I've avoided using relationships as they are now, because of they way they are presented.

Even if they were just collapsible, it would already be good enough in my opinion, but this idea is good too.

I have made limited use of relationships currently, partly because of how much space it takes to display them, dominating the character main page (and maybe partly if I'm honest because I don't need them all the much for my projects). I would, however, probably use them more if there was a nicer and more discrete way of showing them for a character.

The current relationships take up too much space on the page. I don't use it because of this.

I've stopped using the relationships system a long time ago because it displays on the articles in a really clunky way like Yasgal is pointing out. a visual overhaul would be amazing and make me use it again.
