Folders for Worlds

active-worlds folder management

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I have multiple active worlds. Some worlds are part of the same 'universe' (multiple stories occuring on the same planet, but different countries/continents/era), some are not. I haven't noticed any way to sort out the active worlds.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

My active worlds page would be easier to browse through. Standalone worlds and interconnected worlds would be easier to distinguish on first glance.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Uncluttering the active worlds page.

The Team's Response

We think this is a great idea! But it didn't get enough support so we won't go forward with it for now.   Pro-tip: When you open the world switcher, the search field is focused by default, so you can immediately type the world name. As someone with quite a few worlds, this speeds up world switching quite a bit!

Why not have a base folder for each?

While I have a single world, I can see this as helpful to the more ambitious of us. :)

Showing support for fellow multiworld users! I don't necessarily *need* to have folders, but I could use it to separate novels from rpg campaigns for example or to separate private and public worlds, testing worlds, or those where I am a collaborator, not an owner. I can imagine multiple user cases where this little thing might be really useful for some people.

The vast majority of WA users have only one World. The methods we already have for organizing suit my needs (reordering the list and storing inactive Worlds). I suspect it's a small minority of users who have enough active Worlds to benefit from grouping them into custom folders. If it's easy enough to implement, it'd be great to have as an option.
